DETOX WITH JESUS Mission and Brief Summary
Our Governance & Accountability
Detox with Jesus is built on a Christ-centered foundation of humility, accountability, and mutual submission.
Jesus Christ alone is the Head of this ministry. We believe the Holy Spirit leads, teaches, and guards the body of Christ. All who serve here are called to walk in humility, love, and submission to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21).
Detox with Jesus is owned and stewarded by Susan Hopkins. She carries responsibility for the operation of the website and its legal and privacy obligations.
To safeguard spiritual integrity, doctrinal clarity, and ethical practice, Detox with Jesus is supported by an independent Oversight Committee of seven members. This committee prayerfully reviews concerns, complaints, and questions raised by the public or the community, and helps guide the ministry in matters of policy, conduct, and doctrine.
All leaders and assistants serving within Detox with Jesus are accountable to this oversight structure and are chosen first for character, spiritual fruit, and humility before gifting.
Decisions and concerns are addressed through a prayerful, consensus-based process that seeks unity under the Holy Spirit rather than majority rule.
We welcome questions, correction, and accountability, trusting Jesus to protect and mature His body.

What is Detox with Jesus?
Detox with Jesus is a Christ-centered recovery pathway for people struggling with addictions, codependency, and life-controlling issues - and for the families and friends impacted by them.
It is not about religion, rules, or trying harder. It is about following a Person - Jesus Christ - who transforms us from the inside out.
The Heart and the Hands
At its core, Detox with Jesus is not a program but a journey with Christ. Addiction is not the problem but a symptom of deeper wounds, and the addict is not the enemy.
The true enemy is the darkness that feeds on family pain and unresolved trauma. Our mission is to point hurting people to the unconditional love of the Father, the healing way of Jesus, and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
But healing is not only spiritual - it is also practical. Families need support in their everyday struggles. That is why Detox with Jesus rests on two pillars:
- The Heart: Detox with Jesus - a gentle cleanse of soul and spirit, restoring families through faith, forgiveness, and love.
- The Hands: Many Hands Make Light Work - practical help from the community, where volunteers and neighbors come alongside families with encouragement, meals, childcare, advocacy, and presence.
If you feel stirred to be part of the “helping hands” that lighten the load for struggling families, you’ll discover more in the section called Many Hands Make Light Work.
What Detox with Jesus Is (and isn’t)
- Let go and let God.
- Draw strength and comfort from Jesus.
- Build circles of support in your home, community, or region.
- Understand codependency and family patterns.
- Recognize that addiction is not the root problem but a symptom of pain.
- Use Starter Kits as practical guides for addicts, parents, spouses, siblings, grandparents, and friends.
- Share your story so others can learn from your struggles and victories.
We know that recovery often requires professional support. Detox with Jesus is meant to complement, not replace that care. Just as Susan once worked as an outreach worker -walking beside families, advocating, and offering comfort - this ministry will help you find strength in Christ while encouraging you to reach out for the professional help you may also need.
