Community Solutions Library
The Community Solutions Library exists to highlight practical solutions that are bringing real change in communities. Each month, we focus on one problem and one solution - exploring the need it addresses, how it works, why it is effective, and what others can learn from it.
Scripture tells us, “God is love” (1 John 4:8). It also reminds us that whoever lives in love lives in God (1 John 4:16). This means love in action is not limited to buildings, institutions, or titles. Wherever compassion, dignity, and courage come together to help people in crisis - God is present.
For many years, we have looked primarily to governments or religious institutions to solve economic, environmental, and social challenges. They have done their part, often under immense pressure and limitation. Yet red tape, funding structures, burnout, and human weakness can hinder even the best intentions. When this happens, entire communities can feel discouraged and helpless.
But we are not helpless.
The Serenity Prayer reminds us that while some things are beyond our control, there are things we can change - and we must be willing to act where we are able. The Community Solutions Library exists to remind ordinary people that love, integrity, and compassion are powerful credentials. We do not need perfect systems to begin caring for one another. We need willing hearts.
Love comes in many forms and expressions. Just as the body of Christ has many parts with different gifts, so communities have many people with unique skills and perspectives. When those gifts unite around genuine care for human dignity, solutions begin to emerge.
We are not here to criticize governments or churches. We are here to mobilize people. We believe lasting change happens when individuals step forward, share ideas and strategies, listen and modify those ideas to fit their need, and work together to implement a community solution with attitudes of humility and courage.
THIS MONTH’S FEATURED SOLUTION
Each month we highlight a practical solution that has been thoughtfully shared with us by someone in the community. This month’s featured solution reflects lived experience, care, and a willingness to help others by showing what works. By taking time to learn from this example, we hope you will gain insight, encouragement, and practical ideas that can be adapted to meet real needs in your own community.
In closing, we would love to hear from you …
If you have seen a solution that is working in your community, or have read an article, listened to a podcast, news report or a radio program talking about a solution that is working in another area, we would love to hear from you.
What you share may inspire another town, neighborhood, or group of people to take action.
